Mother. Yogi. Caregiver.

I'm a married mother of five and yogi who is passionate about Bone Density Health!

Osteoporosis and Osteopenia are often called the silent disease, because you don’t know you have a problem until you have a nasty fall or suffer a fracture and feel the pain.

And I'm here to help.

Hi, I'm Sarah.

I’ve always had a natural caregiver instinct, and nurturing others is something that brings me joy. Growing up, I watched my parents care for my great-grandmother, which instilled in me the importance of family and taking care of others.

Year later as a young mother of active boys, I had the opportunity to follow in my parents footsteps and care for my own grandmother in my home.

As a caregiver of my children and my grandmother, there were three experiences that have shaped my passion in helping others.

The first experience involved my oldest son.

Since an infant he had chronic asthma, eczema and other health challenges. Eventually, a doctor suggested we have him tested for food allergies and we learned that we was allergic to wheat, corn, oats and soy, everything that I had been feeding him! I immersed myself in learning about nutrition and alternative recipes as I adapted our family’s diet for my son’s needs.

I learned that the optimal diet is different for each individual, and that a healthy, nutritious diet requires active management.

The second experience involved my own health.

As the daily tasks of motherhood and caring for my grandmother took over my life, I often felt weak and tired. Lifting heavy items became a challenge.

I knew that in order to care for my loved ones, I needed to first take care of myself, so I restarted my yoga practice.

The results were outstanding. I felt mentally and physically stronger.

Wanting to share the benefit of yoga, I attended yoga teacher training and became a 500 hour Yoga Alliance Yoga Instructor and a 90 hour Children’s Yoga Instructor, and started teaching yoga in person and online. Practicing yoga has blessed my life and my family.

My third defining experience was with my Grandmother.

As my family grew, my grandmother enjoyed spending time with each of my children. For the first few years she would get on the floor and play with the kids. After a few years she fell and had a hip fracture. She recovered, but her mobility became more limited.

At the time, I didn’t know there was anything that could be done to improve her bone health and accepted her situation as it was. A few years later, she had a second fall and significantly lost her freedom and mobility as a result. She required constant help with simple tasks she was previously able to do for herself.

A few years after my grandmother passed, a fellow yoga instructor informed me about scientific studies that showed practicing yoga could help people with bone loss strengthen their bones. Immediately, I knew this could be a gamechanger in helping others avoid the struggles my grandmother and I went through.

I learned all I could about osteoporosis and osteoporosis treatments. I completed a Yoga for Osteoporosis Certification with the physician who conducted the original studies, Dr. Loren Fishman, and became BoneFit certified.

"When we feel good, we are then free to pursue all the things that matter most to us in life."

Upon completion of this training and research, I began working with people who had bone density loss. This new education opened my eyes to how, the way we are able to move and strengthen our bodies, plays a part in our overall mindset and happiness in life. As my clients and I implemented these practices together, questions regarding nutrition for bone health arose more and more frequently. I knew there had to be a more holistic approach, so I spent a year studying nutrition at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, receiving my nutritional health coach certification.

Now, with 20 years of yoga practice, yoga and bone loss training, and as a certified nutritional health coach, I have created a supportive community for those curious about the benefits of yoga, nutritional education, as well as those living with bone density loss.

I am able to share my love for yoga as a foundational aspect of my life and my goal is to provide you with the ability and tools to help you feel good in your body and live your best life.
